About the Director

Welcome to 2024!
My name is Grace Mattingly, and I am the Artistic Director and owner of Street Slamin Dance Centre.

I have been dancing since the age of 4. Under the guidance of Lydia McNamara, I learnt Jazz, Hip Hop, Tap, Lyrical Contemporary, Body conditioning, Acrobatics, and Cheerleading. I have completed the RAD Classical ballet syllabus to Advanced level and Pointe with Miss Anne Reardon and Ballroom dance with Gavin Hulm.
I moved to Street Slamin where I perfected my Hip Hop technique under Callie and started the Jazz and Contemporary syllabus teaching all ages and choreographing the end of year performances.

During this time, I was a member of the NSW State Dance Team and danced at School Spectacular. I danced interstate under Mikayla McGregor at Ministry of Dance in Melbourne and Paul Malek as part of the Origins Dance Company in Melbourne for 4 years. I have had successful auditions to the prestigious McDonald College in Sydney, Patrick studios, Transit Dance and Ministry of Dance in Melbourne and eventually moving to study full time dance at Kelly Aykers Dance Studio in 2020.

I have performed in many SCPA, Allegro, WWHS and KCC productions, State Dance Festival, AASCF Cheerleading Championships and Life in the Spotlight as well as competing at local, state and National level at eisteddfods, and Championships.

I have participated in many outside and interstate workshops and I am keen to bring these experiences to my students.

I hold my Certificate III in Dance teaching, Certificate III in business and am qualified in First Aid and CPR.

I am keen to pass on my competitive spirit. I know my way around the competition circuit and am super keen to develop my squads and soloists into the best in the Riverina and be competitive at the State level. I have many big ideas to broaden the depth of experience and skills for my students.

I am an advocate for safety in dance and practices the safe methods of instruction in all my classes. I want to ensure that every student that comes through our doors has a journey of acceptance, inclusiveness, discovery and learning and feels a part of our dance family from the very beginning.
